WEEK 1 – Introduction and Fundamentals: The Basics to Punches, Elbows and Grabs
In the first week of this program, participants will learn how to avoid being targeted by attackers. We will discuss what
attackers look for in victims and how to avoid putting yourself in possibly harmful situations. Participants will also hear
stories of real attacks and how the women defended themselves. This will be followed by a practical segment, in which
class members will learn and understand basic punches, elbows, and basic wrist and shoulder grabs, as well as primary
targets to attack.
WEEK 2 – Kicks, Knees and Advanced Grabs
In the second week, we will progress to more difficult situations to deal with and learn more advanced defensive grabs.
A variety of grabs will be demonstrated, some initiated from the front and some from behind, and some may even put
you on the ground. You will learn how to stay calm and use your body as a tool to defeat and escape an attacker.
WEEK 3 – Cycling, Running and Ground Attacks
The third week covers out door safety strategies for attacks on trails and other public recreational areas. After learning
outdoor safety the class moves to ground attacks. Instructors show how to escape from an attacker that has you on
WEEK 4 – Automobile, Multiple Attackers and Knife Attacks
If an attacker enters your car, what do you do? The first part of week 4 covers automobile safety. These simple and
practical techniques will keep you safe. All attacks this far have been from single attackers. The class gets its first look
at multiple attackers coming at the same time and different directions. Learning to stay calm and rely on what they’ve
learned to avoid, defend and evade.

“What I have learned since taking and graduating from the class is that while I still pray that I am never put in a situation where my personal safety is threatened, if I am, I know that Nathan has equipped me with the essential skills to defend myself and for that I am eternally grateful.”
“After completing Trinity’s program I feel more empowered and I know that I am less likely to become that next missing person or victim. Thank you so much Nathan, although I hope to never use anything you taught me, it is always better to be prepared.”
“As a woman who is living internationally, I wanted to feel secure about my safety as I travel and work independently for long periods of time. Nathan taught me the basics of self-defense as well as the specific skills that I might need given my new living conditions in sub-Saharan Africa. While I hope that I never have to use these new skills I feel more confident in my ability to respond and react quickly and effectively in the event of a threat to my physical safety”
“Ladies, there is hope out there when it comes to learning how to defend yourself against somebody stronger and bigger than yourself. Trinity’s Are You Prepared? Program has helped me build up not only my knowledge about self-defense, but also my confidence in fighting in such a way that I was able to fight and defend myself successfully in a real life fighting situation already in the third week of the course. The real life fighting portion of the class is absolutely priceless. It may save my life one day. I cannot say how much I appreciated to have had this opportunity.”
“There I was, 4:30am, kneeling down on the floor of my bathroom closet with my face pressed up against the small opening I’d left in the door. I peered thought the darkness, stretching my neck trying to see who was coming. How many were there? What did they want?
About a week after my ordeal, I was watching Good Day Atlanta and there was Nathan talking about the recent attack on the Silver Comet Trail. His gym was offering free self-defense classes for women – his way of stepping up to help women in his community. I don’t believe in coincidences, so I took it as a sign and immediately called to sign up for the classes. I decided I never wanted to feel that helpless and terrified again.
Nathan’s self-defense classes proved to be more intensive and more “real” than I ever anticipated. He not only taught power moves, but common sense; the first thing you should do is avoid being in a dangerous situation, watch your back, be aware of your surroundings, and don’t be an easy target. But, if all else fails, here’s what you do to survive. It was the best thing I’ve done for myself in a long time and I urge you to do the same.
Take the time to empower yourself. You won’t regret it.”
“I am a 46 year-old woman who lives in a somewhat rural area. For exercise, I like to walk, which usually results in my husband and I arguing about my safety because I am usually alone. I have always felt safe and believed that I did the things I needed to do to be safe, but after seeing Nathan on Fox 5 Good Day Atlanta, I decided to take the Are You Prepared? self-defense course, hoping to appease my husband.
Before taking the Are You Prepared? course at Trinity, I never believed I would ever be confronted with an attack situation, but thought I could protect myself if I was. I believed that the course would only affirm my thoughts and teach me a few “new tricks”. What I came to realize was what I knew (and did not know) would probably get me killed.
I found Are You Prepared? to be a very comprehensive course. It taught me what do, and what not to do to be safe. From the very first class, Nathan provided me with the knowledge and practical skills I can use to really protect myself. He also let me know and actually experience what I can expect in an attack situation. Nathan was honest and upfront and made sure I got it. He took my learning how to protect myself personal. I really feel empowered. After completing Nathan’s Are You Prepared? course, I can honestly say that I am prepared. I recommend this course to everyone.”
